Working in education, next month represents one of my favorite months of the year. Hundreds of students will graduate from high school and college anticipating their next steps in life. While more people enter the workforce, employers are finding it more challenging to navigate the complexities of preparing for the next wave of employees. The Florida Chamber of Commerce estimates over 50,000 new jobs will come to the region by 2020 and as business leaders, we need to develop resources and tools to help us in the recruiting, training, and retaining process. That’s why in five short weeks; CareerSource Suncoast will introduce its first annual State of Talent Conference on May 19th at University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. CareerSource Suncoast, the regional workforce board for Manatee and Sarasota counties, announces that registration is open for the State of Talent Conference on May 19, 2017 at the University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee. The all-day conference will bring together human resources professionals and operations directors to focus on how to better recruit, train and retain talent for our region’s current and future workforce. Registration is $79 and includes lunch and light snacks throughout the day. There is also an option for $99 which includes $20 to support Journey to Success, a program within CareerSource Suncoast that focuses on career development for disadvantaged young adults 18-24 years old. Donations for Journey to Success go towards scholarships, industry field trips and materials needed for a five-week summer session. Online registration is available at www.stateoftalent.org.
